A Bird in the Rain

‘twas on a sunlit morning bright
when a young bird rose to meet the light
and on the wind he struck his wings
to see the sun and to it sings:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas past the morn, the clouds did form
but nowhere near a crashing storm
our bird did fly along his way
and with a smile again did say:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas noonday now the clouds grew dark,
But nothing to dismay the lark
that on this day did take his reign
and to the earth again proclaim:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas now the clouds did take their place
into the storm and break their grace
but our great bird without a fear
cried out to the whole world to hear:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas now the darkness took the crown
but not to make our birdie frown
our bird flew on and through the rain
did still let on the constant strain:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas now the thunder carried through
to every heart; through me and you
but our dear bird was not upset
He sang the song we know as yet:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas now the lightning struck the trees
and fire rose in quenching ease
The bird was not the least bit phased
but to the world again he phrased:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas now the rain swept through the streets
it covered all the roads in sheets
Our bird did look to the ground below
and let the people ‘fore him know:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas now the darkness took the world
and in its blackness light was hurled
but little bird yet in flight still
did cry his ever constant trill:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in Life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas now a beam of light broke through
the darkness deep and brightly grew
and with a cheer our bird yet sang
as with the light his voice, it rang:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas now the storm did start to cease
the Son in glory did increase
Our bird knew yet to sing his song
and with the brightness sang along:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

‘twas now the light did overcome
the darkness deep and painful glum
to which the bird in flight did try
to add to the glory, again did cry:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in life!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in strife!

It’s now we see that light does win
in every dark there's ever been
so now we sing with our brave bird
who’s voice can still be quietly heard:

I see the light in every day
I see the light in strife!
I see the light in every way
I see the light in life!
