The Backpack

There were once two men who, as in years past, went on a trip up to the mountains as father and son. They had planned everything to be as perfect as possible, and they left for the fantastic journey. When they arrived at their destination, the two decided it would be nice to go for a walk, exploring the surrounding landscape. However, as they did so, the sun fell, and the two were lost in darkness.
Though the darkness slightly unnerved the father, the son was unafraid. He quickly devised a plan to find familiar ground without much difficulty. The plan solidified, he then asked his father for his flashlight, though it was not in his possession.
He had left his backpack without him.
The father, however, came to the rescue. With his own backpack, he provided what was needed to find their way. In later years, as he met his son in his various doings, he would look him in the eye and say,
"Do you have your backpack?"
To which, the son would avidly reply,
"Yes, yes I do."
As dark times will unavoidably come, let us not forget our backpacks. When the light is distant, and evil seems to be strong, let us always remember the sustaining items that lie in its well-prepared convoy.
